Lourdes

St. Bernadette

The Story of Lourdes

Once a small market town, Lourdes was changed forever, when in Feb. of 1858, a “Beautiful Lady” appeared in the grotto of Massabielle to 14-year-old Bernadette Sibirioux. As Bernadette was crossing over the River Gave to collect firewood, she saw a vision of a woman in white coming from the grotto.  When she inquired as to who she was, the woman lovingly said ~ I am the Immaculate Conception.  She visited Bernadette 18 times over the next three months imploring her to let it be known that God wishes to call mankind to prayer and penance for peace in the world and in their hearts.  She also asked that a chapel be built and for pilgrims to come to the grotto.  Since then, Lourdes has become one of the most visited shrines in the world and is truly a haven of healing for so many.

The Story of Fatima

The events that took place at Fatima in 1917 are among the most beautiful and mysterious ever in the history of the world.  Three shepherd children, Jacinta & Francisco Marto and their cousin, Lucia Santos, reported that they had seen a woman "made wholly of light", who visited them six times from May to October of 1917, saying that she was the "Lady of the Rosary" and asking them to bear a message of great hope for all mankind. During her last visit a startling event took place that was witnessed by over 70,000 believers and skeptics alike; the sun seemed to have fallen from the sky and swirled as if dancing, giving off magnificent colors.
