Day 1 - Late afternoon departure on a non-stop United Airlines flight from Newark to Tel Aviv.
Day 2 –Mid-morning arrival in Tel Aviv! Travel north to the Galilee area with a stop at Zippori Nat’l. Park; site of the ancient town of Sepphoris, known as the "Pearl of Galilee" and the most important town of the region before Tiberius. This is the place tradition holds to be the home of Sts. Joachim and Anna and the birthplace of the Blessed Virgin Mary! Since 1931 archaeological research of this site has uncovered the ruins of a Crusader church built over their home. Also see beautiful mosaics from the Roman and Byzantine periods. Late afternoon arrival at the Ron Beach Hotel where all the rooms look over the Sea of Galilee!
Day 3 - Morning departure for Cana to visit the Church of the 1st Miracle of Our Lord. Next we will drive to Nazareth to visit the Basilica of the Annunciation and the Church of St. Joseph built over his carpentry workshop. Afternoon drive to Mt. Tabor, rising high above the Jezreel Valley; site of the the Great Transfiguration. Overnight overlooking the Galilee.
Day 4 - A day along the Sea of Galilee beginning with a visit to the ruins of Capernaum, the town where Our Saviour stayed during his public ministry. Continue on to nearby Tabgha to visit the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes, the Church of Primacy of St. Peter (where Our Lord appeared to the Apostles after His resurrection) and the Mount of Beatitudes, where He gave His magnificent "Sermon on the Mount". Enjoy an afternoon boatride on the Sea of Galilee in the tradition of the Apostles. Overnight overlooking the Galilee.
Day 5 - Morning check-out and departure south for Jericho with a stop at Our Lord's baptismal site on the River Jordan. Then on to the Qumran Nat’l. Park overlooking the Dead Sea to learn about the oldest known biblical manuscripts accidentally discovered in 1947. Afternoon arrival in Jericho, the oldest inhabited city in the world (dating back to 8000 BC) and site of the great Israelite battle, led by Joshua, marking the first conquest of the Canaanites on their return from bondage in Egypt. Travel by cable car to the Mount of Temptation, now an Orthodox Christian Monastery. Also see the Tree of Zacchaeus. Check in our hotel near the Dead Sea for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 - Morning check-out and departure for Bethany, Bethlehem and onto Jerusalem! Our first stop will be at the House of Lazarus and his sisters in Bethany. Also visit the Tomb of Lazarus. Next, head to Bethlehem to visit Manger Square and the Church of the Nativity built up over the birthplace of Christ. Bending low as we enter through the Door of Humility, we enter the Church and descend into the Grotto of Nativity. Next, visit Shepherds Fields where the Angels announced Our Saviour's birth! Also visit the Carmelite Convent founded by St. Mariam Bouardy, the Melkite mystic from the upper Galilee who was canonized in 2015. Finally travel into Jerusalem for the remainder of our pilgrimage. Late afternoon arrival in Jerusalem for check-in at the Pontifical Institute of Notre Dame, a French cathedral and guest house located across from the Old City’s New Gate and a ten minute walk to the Holy Sepulchre.
Day 7 - A full day in Jerusalem to visit the sacred sites marking Our Lord's final days on earth. Starting at the top of the Mount of Olives, visit the Church of Pater Noster, the Chapel of Ascension and Dominus Flevit (where Our Lord wept over Jerusalem) before walking down through olive groves to the Garden of Gethsemane and Church of All Nations. Next we’ll make our way to Mount Zion to visit the Dormition Church, Cenacle and St. Peter in Gallicantu. Finally we'll visit the Wailing Wall, a remnant of the Second Temple (from the 6th century BC) and the holiest site in Judaism.
Day 8 - A full day in Jerusalem beginning with a visit to the Pool of Bethesda and Church of St. Anne built over the birthplace of the holy grandmother! From there we will walk along the Via Dolorosa stopping at the Church of Scourging and the Arch of Ecce Homo to finally arrive at the Holy Sepulchre, encompassing the Hill of Calvary, where Our Lord was crucified, where He died, was buried and resurrected.
Day 9 - Today we will have the awesome privilege of Holy Mass at Calvary. We will also visit the Israeli Museum to see the Model of Jerusalem from the time of King David and the Shrine of the Book containing the Dead Sea Scrolls. Next will be an excursion to Ein Kerem; the birthplace of St. John the Baptist and place of the holy Visitation between the Virgin Mary and her cousin Elizabeth. Time in the afternoon at leisure. Evening Farewell Dinner.
Day 10 – Morning check-out and departure for the Tel Aviv Airport for a late morning flight to Newark (NJ).
